The Institute for Technological Research (IPT) is a linked institute to the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo with over one hundred…
Responsible for the conversion of half of the energy generated at Itaipu, Furnas Ibiúna Substation, located in São Paulo, is monitored by Treetech, with a network of integrated sensors by Sigma system. This form of online monitoring allows data collection on the substation equipment, as well as diagnostics and prognostics, and ensure advance in detecting possible problems.
The old mechanical system for detecting faults in Ibiúna was replaced by digital system Treetech. The project innovation was the use of a decentralized architecture, that is, the installed smart sensors (bushing monitoring, temperature monitoring oil and windings, for example) are autonomous and allow decision-making aimed at controlling and protecting transformers.
